How to wash your socks
-
❌ What NEVER to use
- Bleach or whitening agents - damage elastic fibers
- Fabric softeners - can reduce compressibility
- Hot water (over 30°C) - damages elasticity
- Harsh chemicals - weaken tissue
Hand Wash Option
Hand washing is the most ideal option and will help prolong the life of your socks:
- Use cold or warm water (maximum 30°C)
- Add pH neutral soap (avoid harsh detergents)
- Submerge the stockings and rub gently with your hands
- Rinse thoroughly until all soap is removed
- Don't wring the stockings when wringing them out: gently press to remove excess water
Machine Wash Option
There is no problem washing your socks in the washing machine following these guidelines:
- Maximum temperature: 30°C (ideal delicate cycle, but it's fine if you do a normal daily wash)
- Mild detergent without bleach
- Short cycle and gentle spin
- You can mix it with other clothes, no problem.
-
How often should I wash them?
To maintain the hygiene and effectiveness of your socks:
- Wash your tights after each use or, at most, after 2 uses.
- If you sweat a lot or it's hot, always wash them after each use.
- We recommend having at least 2-3 pairs so you can rotate them while some are being washed and dried.
How to dry your socks
Proper drying
We recommend hanging vertically to maintain shape and compression:
- Drain without twisting - gently press between two towels
- Hang it upright on a hanger or clothesline
- Let them air dry in a well-ventilated place.
- Avoid direct sunlight (it can weaken the fibers)
- Drying time: between 4-8 hours depending on ambient humidity
❌ Never use a dryer
The heat from the dryer can:
- Reduce the elasticity of the stockings
- Shrink the fabric
- To considerably shorten its useful life
-
Other prohibited methods
- Do not iron - heat damages the compression fibers
- Do not overstretch when hanging to dry
- Do not dry on radiators or direct heat sources
How to store and keep your socks
Daily storage
When you're not wearing your socks:
- Make sure they are completely dry before storing them
- Fold gently without stretching . Avoid rolling them into a "ring" shape.
- Store them in a dry, ventilated drawer.
- Do not compress them with other heavy garments
How to fold correctly
The best way to fold your compression stockings:
- Place one sock on top of the other, aligned.
- Fold it in half gently (without stretching)
- Store flat, not rolled up
❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Care and Maintenance
Can I wash my socks with other clothes?
Yes, but it's best to wash them with similar colored clothes and use a laundry bag for protection. Avoid washing them with garments that have zippers or Velcro that could get caught.
How often should I wash them?
Ideally, after each use. If you wear them for many hours at a time or sweat, it's especially important to wash them to maintain hygiene and the fabric's properties.
Can I use regular detergent?
Yes, but preferably a mild one or one for delicate fabrics. The important thing is that it doesn't contain bleach or whitening agents, and use only a small amount.
How do I know if the water temperature is suitable?
If handwashing, the water should be lukewarm to the touch, never hot. In a washing machine, select the 30°C or "delicate" cycle. Cold water is also perfect.
Can I use bleach to keep them white?
No. Bleach and chlorine bleach damage the elastic fibers and reduce compression. If your light-colored socks get stained, use gentle methods like baking soda.
Is it normal for them to change size a little after washing?
It's normal for them to appear slightly smaller when wet. Once dry and when you put them on, they will regain their normal compression.
How many pairs should I have?
We recommend having at least 3 pairs so you can rotate them. This way you'll always have a clean pair while others dry, and you'll extend the life of all of them by giving them time to recover between uses.
